Lead Events and Operations Technician

This is a full time, results oriented position reporting to the Owner and the Operations Manager. The Lead Event Technician will manage the on-site operations of PHOS in order to maintain a high standard of service for contracted events and clients. This position will be responsible for the organization and delivery of rental equipment, leading the PHOS team for event setups and tear-downs, and verifying client satisfaction. They will always maintain a high standard of relationships and customer service for clients and their events. 


Essential functions of the position include:

  • Quality checking and loading equipment for events in our warehouse.

  • Driving company delivery vehicles to events

  • Maintaining client and PHOS team safety with all electrical and rigging work

  • Leading the PHOS team to achieve each event’s unique installation by understanding the clients vision and working with them to achieve it.

  • Exhibiting personal attributes of team leadership, accountability, and creativity

  • Working with the Operations Manager to coordinate and produce each weeks events

  • Maintaining client relationships with PHOS’ clients and business partners

As a Lead Events Technician you will:

  • Communicate on-site with clients about placement and arrangement of lighting elements

  • Install and hang lighting fixtures, chandeliers, string lighting and custom elements

  • Assemble and safely hang aluminum structures for use by floral design clients

  • Confirm clients are pleased with all work before leaving

  • Educate clients on use of dimmers, control, or powering on/off of lights and fixtures

  • Maintain venue relationships and cleanliness at all times

  • Proactively repair or clean items within our ability to do so in-house

  • Connect with the Operations Manager, venues, and planners in advance of events to discuss schedules, equipment, and logistics

  • Oversee inventory management of lighting and décor equipment

  • Ensure organization, care and tracking of all business assets

  • Manage sub-rentals of equipment

  • Follow and improve warehouse and inventory processes to support event execution

Additional Pertinent Responsibilities include: 

  • Representing PHOS at industry events alongside the Owner, as needed

  • Creating a culture that reflects the values and goals of the organization

  • Exhibiting enthusiasm for all facets of the business 

  • Serving as an example for all employees

  • Other duties assigned or needed as the organization grows

Qualifications: 

  • Able to work in uncontrolled temperatures indoors and outdoors

  • Comfortable working on 6-20 ft ladders and power lifts at heights up to >25ft

  • Must maintain a valid drivers license

  • Must maintain insurable driving record

  • Ability to work days, nights and weekends

  • Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds)

Preferred Skills: 

  • Past experience and knowledge in the events production or audio/visual space preferred

  • Familiarity with rigging basics (safe use of ladders, zip ties, C-clamps, and weight-bearing hooks and wire)

  • Ability to troubleshoot basic electrical connections (high/low-voltage lighting, extension cord routing, power load balancing)

  • Experience with various mounting hardware and surfaces (steel, wood beams, brick, drywall)
